A Saskatoon business is being honoured by SaskPower for providing superiorproducts and service.
"JNE Welding Ltd. deserves a Power of Business award for delivering exceptional
products and service at competitive prices to the corporation since 1987,"
Saskatoon Southeast MLA Pat Lorje said, speaking on behalf of Crown Investments
Corporation Minister John Nilson. "This company is an example of the
innovative and entrepreneurial spirit that has been the hallmark of
Saskatchewan people for decades."
The full service, custom steel fabricator supplies SaskPower with a diverse
range of products. They include fabricated steel structures for transmission
lines, transformer structures, pressure vessels and floodgate pass components
for hydro stations. The company has supplied SaskPower with over 2,500 steel
power pole structures since 1987.
"We've had a long relationship with SaskPower and their support has been a
factor in our success and growth," JNE Welding Ltd. Owner and President Jim
Nowakowski said. "We have over 70 full-time employees, including our trades
people and support staff. And, we now do fabrication work outside Saskatchewan
as well. Working with SaskPower has been a great boost to us and to our
community."
SaskPower buys, on average, more than 80 per cent of its purchases from local
firms. Over the last 15 years, the corporation has purchased over $3.2 billion
in goods and services from Saskatchewan.
Trans Canada Machining of Herbert, GP Fibreglass Ltd. of Melfort and
Martensville Bldg. & Home Supply also received a SaskPower Power of Business
award this fall. In 1999, a number of companies, including Eastern Air
Supplies of Canora, Alcatel's Weyburn Plant, Partners Technologies Incorporated
of Regina and CIM of Humboldt were honoured.
The award was established to recognize the important role local firms play in
SaskPower's success and the Saskatchewan economy.
