MILGAARD RECEIVES SECOND INTERIM PAYMENT

Released on March 5, 1998

The Government of Saskatchewan has forwarded a second interim payment

of $100,000 to David Milgaard. An initial payment of $250,000 was

issued to Milgaard in August, 1997.



Former Quebec Chief Justice Alan B. Gold is negotiating with David

Milgaard and his family on behalf of the Government of Saskatchewan to

determine the amount of compensation to be paid to Milgaard for his

wrongful conviction.



The funds have been forwarded to counsel for Milgaard.
