TRANSPORT COMPLIANCE WEB PAGE LAUNCHED

Released on April 30, 1998

Highways and Transportation Minister Judy Bradley announced today that

Saskatchewan's Transport Compliance Branch (Highway Transport Patrol

and Carrier Services) has moved online, launching a web page to

provide better service to the trucking industry, shippers and

carriers, farming community and rural municipalities.

"Now anyone can gain a wealth of relevant information about transport

compliance issues or programs simply by going to our web site,"

Bradley said. "This will give people easy access to information and

will promote greater understanding by the public and stakeholders

about highway transport issues."

The Transport Compliance web site address is:

http://www.gov.sk.ca/hiways/tcb

The Transport Compliance Web Page is divided into nine different areas

and includes contact names and phone numbers, information on traffic

officer duties and detailed reference material to assist any trucking

related business. People accessing the web page can discover

everything they need to know about the five major safety programs

(No-Zone, Operation Air Brake, Partners in Compliance (PIC),

Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA), (STEP) Selective Traffic

Enforcement Program) participated in by Saskatchewan Highways and

Transportation.

Also included on the page are the most frequently asked questions

directed to Traffic Officers and Investigators (and the answers

to those questions) as well as links to other informative web

pages serving the trucking industry. A list of Acts and

Regulations that Traffic Officers are responsible to enforce is

available and a "What's New" section will be updated regularly to

keep web page users aware of any new regulations or other areas

of interest.

"We would like to think we thought of everything for this web

page," Bradley said. "But if we haven't the opportunity is there

for people to e-mail us directly with suggestions for

improvements. People can also use the page to email us with

complaints or inquiries on compliance or safety related topics."
