HIGHWAY CONTRACTS AWARDED

Released on September 8, 1997

Highways and Transportation Minister Judy Bradley today announced the

awarding of a paving contract valued at over $2 million for more than

23 km of work on Highway No. 4 near Biggar and Cando. There will be

51 jobs associated with this contract.



W.F. Botkin Construction Ltd. of Regina was the lowest of four bidders

at $2,083,869 to pave from 23 km north of Biggar to seven km north of

Cando. Work will begin April 15, 1998 and is planned for completion

on June 30, 1998.



"We are continuing to preserve and improve our highways," Bradley

said. "By creating employment and improving the safety and efficiency

of our highway system, we are supporting development of the local and

provincial economy."
