Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation President Gordon Staseson today
announced the details of a new bus tour program for Casino Regina.
"We listened very carefully to what tour operators, hoteliers and
business people told us they would like to see in a new bus tour
program," Staseson said. "As a result, we have decided to develop a
new program which will be open to all bus tour operators in all areas
of the country who are interested in bringing bus tours to Casino
Regina."
Staseson said that details of the new program have been mailed to over
50 operators throughout western Canada. He said that he anticipates
that buses will begin arriving by the end of the month but that the
full impact of the program may not be felt until early in the new
year.
"Each bus tour guest will be entitled to a coupon allowing them to
purchase $15.00 in coins and receive a further $15.00 in coins,"
Staseson said. "The guest incentive package will also include food
and non-alcoholic beverage promotions. All tour operators who enter
an agreement with us will receive a commission of $5.00 per guest per
day for organized tours of a two, three or four day duration."
"Through the use of the Players' Club Card promotion, we will be
in a better position to evaluate the impact of the bus tour
program on Casino Regina.
"We believe that this new program will build upon the many
successes that were achieved with the previous bus tour program.
While there may have been some criticisms of this program,
nothing can take away from the fact that more than 58,500
out-of-province bus tour guests were brought to the city of
Regina between February 1996 and July 1997 from the bus tours,"
Staseson said.
"The spin-off benefits from the bus tour program were
significant, ranging from increased business for the hotel
industry, busy restaurants to increased retail shopping. Casino
Regina's new bus tour program will continue to improve upon this
success."
Casino Regina will also be offering a promotional package for
day-trips to the casino.
