Released on November 6, 1996

Carol Teichrob, minister responsible for SaskTel, today announced the
grand opening of the SaskTel Interactive Centre, the first innovative
technology centre in Saskatchewan allowing customers to experience
cutting-edge, high-speed Internet technology developed by SaskTel.

In conjunction with the Interactive Centre, SaskTel also introduced
Sympatico High-Speed, the first telephone company to offer high-speed
Internet service in Canada. This affordable service includes service
delivery 50 times faster than original Sympatico and dealer support.
Sympatico High-Speed also allows simultaneous phone conversations and
Internet access on one phone line.

"Today's announcement illustrates the great strides SaskTel has made in
the development and application of Internet technology for its
customers," Teichrob said. "Customers are always looking for faster
and more convenient ways to access the wealth of information on the
Internet and SaskTel is offering solutions that meet these needs."

As an introductory service, Sympatico High-Speed will be initially
offered to residential customers in certain areas of Regina and
Saskatoon. Initial pricing is $69.95 per month with unlimited usage
for one year. The introductory offer will be available until Dec. 31,
1996. A $99.00 service connection charge applies.

The SaskTel Interactive Centre will demonstrate home and business-based
Internet solutions including Sympatico, QuantumLynx Solutions and
Sympatico High-Speed. SaskTel has created an Advanced Interactive
Solutions department to develop, manage and market these leading-edge
technologies and to support the Interactive Centre.

The public can visit the SaskTel Interactive Centre and use the
technology from 9:00 a.m to 4:30 p.m, Monday to Friday. The
Interactive Centre is located at SaskTel Head Office, main floor,
Cornwall Centre in Regina. Inquiries regarding Sympatico High-Speed
