SASKTEL INTRODUCES NEW INTERNET SERVICE

Released on June 24, 1996

Carol Teichrob, minister responsible for SaskTel, today announced a new
way for SaskTel customers to surf the Internet. SaskTel will be
discontinuing its existing Internet Services and introducing Sympatico.
This new service will provide easy access to the new wave of
communicating and is packed with information of interest to all ages.

"Through its alliance with Stentor, SaskTel will begin today to sell
Sympatico with two nationally consistent pricing options to all
customers throughout Saskatchewan," Teichrob said. "Once again I'm
very pleased to announce that SaskTel is the communications company
bringing leading-edge services to the province, ensuring that all
Saskatchewan residents regardless of geographic location can benefit
from the Information Highway."

There will be no price difference for Sympatico between urban and rural
centres. SaskTel is the only company in Saskatchewan, and indeed one
of the few companies in Canada, that will be offering an Internet
service province-wide without charging long distance.

With the Sympatico Internet service, coupled with SaskTel's high
quality and reliable network, customers will enjoy easy access to local
and global information. The starter kit sells for $29.95 and includes
100 prepaid hours, Netscape Navigator software, toll-free support 24
hours a day, 365 days a year, and a user guide. After the initial
month, two pricing options are available to choose from: Occasional for
$9.95 a month for 5 hours or Regular for $24.95 a month for 60 hours.
Each additional hour is $1.50.

"Sympatico really is the Internet service for everyone," says Dan
Baldwin, SaskTel Senior Vice President. "SaskTel Internet customers
will enjoy a unique combination of easy access, popular Netscape
Navigator software, dynamic content and customer support at very
competitive prices.

Sympatico starter kits are available at all SaskTel Telmarts throughout
Saskatchewan. In addition SaskTel has secured 45 distributors across
the province to sell the Sympatico starter kit.

SaskTel originally announced the first wave of Internet service to
customers in March, 1995. At the time, it was the most comprehensive
access available in the province. Current SaskTel Internet customers
will be migrated to Sympatico over the next few weeks. "Today, through
Sympatico, SaskTel is pleased to be the communications company to offer
the second wave of Internet service to all Saskatchewan customers,"
Teichrob said.
