Government of Saskatchewan Summer Student Program
Applications for the 2026 Summer Student Program are now open!
The Government of Saskatchewan is the largest student employer in the province, hiring nearly 1,000 students annually. A variety of great summer jobs are available, including delivering programs and services in government offices, building and repairing highways and maintaining our beautiful provincial parks – to name only a few!
Clint, a Business Administration student from the University of Regina, took part in the 2025 Summer Student Program. He worked for the Ministry of Trade and Export Development as a student Accounting Clerk. He supported financial operations and responded to related inquiries. Clint enjoyed the collaborative and inclusive environment he worked in while getting real-world exposure to accounting and finance practices beyond classroom learning. His hands-on experience while still in school helped him build a strong foundation for his future career.
NEW! Expanded Eligibility Criteria
Recent graduates and those in one-year programs can now apply for 2026 summer student roles with the Government of Saskatchewan.
A “student” must be legally entitled to work in Canada; AND meet one of the eligibility criteria below:
- Attending school on a full-time basis; and returning to school on a full-time basis in the next academic semester;
- Enrolled in full-time academic studies and will graduate in the current academic year; or
- Recently graduated from full-time academic studies within the last year.
Eligibility Guidelines:
- Priority is given to students attending post-secondary over high school;
- “Full-time” shall be defined by the educational institution the student is attending;
- Proof of student status or program completion date may be requested; and
- Full-time academic studies include a program with a minimum 32-weeks course requirement.
Students may be rehired into a similar position if they worked for the Government of Saskatchewan the previous year. Rehires must be legally entitled to work in Canada, meet one of the eligibility criteria above and must have been employed as a student in the previous year.

Practicum Placements
The Government of Saskatchewan provides opportunities for post-secondary education students requiring practicum placements to complete their education through unpaid work placements in the public service. Eligibility requirements will vary between practicum programs.
Co-operative Placements
- A great way to supplement your education with practical work experience, explore work in the public service and build your resume.
- Placements provide an opportunity to absorb knowledge and transferable skills from experienced public service employees.
- Eligibility requirements will vary between academic institutions. Please visit the website of your post-secondary institution’s Co-op Program or contact their Co-op Office to obtain more information.
Criminal Record Check (CRC)
Submission of a satisfactory criminal record check is a condition of employment for all new employees, including summer students, practicum and Co-op placements. Students are required to pay for their criminal record check and will be contacted to initiate the process online.
