Each year, the Building Standards and Licensing Branch offers a number of workshops and training for:
- building owners;
- industry (architects, engineers, technologists and contractors);
- municipal officials;
- building officials;
- fire inspectors; and
- other interested code users.
These workshops and training opportunities may be applied to credit hours required under the Building Official Licensing Training (BOLT) program.

Webinar - Understanding the Objective Based Code
This on-demand virtual workshop is to provide code users and industry the fundamental concepts for the objective based codes, which in turn will provide a better understanding of application, limitations and alternative solutions to the National Building Code of Canada (NBC) specific to Saskatchewan.
The following topics will be covered, which include working examples for application of:
- Provincial legislation,
- Objective statements,
- Functional statements,
- Intent statements, and
- Alternative solutions.
This workshop, consisting of eight chapters, will provide four credit hours towards mandatory training hour requirements for building official license renewal and four credit hours towards professional development for others. Upon completion of all eight chapters including the short survey, a certificate will be emailed to the address provided with the registration.
All eight chapters of this virtual workshop (listed below) must be completed by Friday, October 9, 2020.
