Saskatchewan's economy is largely emissions-intensive, generating greenhouse gases primarily from oil and gas, agriculture, electricity generation and transportation. Saskatchewan's total emissions were estimated at 78 million tonnes in 2017, according to Canada's most recent National Inventory Report (2019). This represents approximately 10 per cent of Canada's emissions, which are approximately two per cent of global emissions.
