Comprehensive Plant and Animal Pest Control Program

Below are four control programs currently available to assist agricultural producers with pest control activities. 

The Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities administers all programs.

1. Agricultural Field Worker Policy for Rat Control

The Agricultural Field Worker Policy for Rat Control provides funding or subsidies to rural municipalities for rat control activities.

2. Beaver Control Program

The Beaver Control Program provides financial assistance to Saskatchewan rural municipalities and First Nations bands to control beaver populations in their jurisdictions.

3. Feral Wild Boar Control Program

The Feral Wild Boar Control Program assists rural municipalities and First Nation bands in controlling the proliferation of feral wild boar across Saskatchewan. To learn more, visit Saskatchewan Crop Insurance – Feral Wild Boar Program.

4. Invasive Plant Management and Control Program

The purpose of the Invasive Plant Management and Control Program is to increase awareness of invasive plants in municipalities and help develop multi-jurisdiction management plans for these problem species. 

The program assists rural municipalities and First Nation bands with long-term management of noxious weeds and invasive plants, most notably leafy spurge and scentless chamomile.
