Dry Pea is a pulse crop and a member of the family Leguminacea. It was among the first crops cultivated and was domesticated about 9,000. It is a cool season crop and is widely grown in the cooler temperate zones of the world. Pea is grown on about six to eight million hectares (ha) annually and total production ranges from 10 to 12 million tonnes per year.
