On November 15, 2016, Deputy Premier and Education Minister Don Morgan announced the appointment of Dan Perrins to lead the work on a Kindergarten to Grade 12 educational governance review. The mandate of the review is to present governance options that will focus on student success while ensuring accountability and efficient operational structures within the education system.
Dan Perrins, a long-time public servant with nearly 40 years of experience in the health, education and social services sectors, submitted his report outlining the education governance options.
On December 21, 2016, Minister Morgan announced the appointment of a six-person Advisory Panel to lead consultations with the education sector and the public on the presented governance options and implementation implications.
Advisory Panel Mandate
The Advisory Panel has met with approximately 40 stakeholder organizations in face-to-face meetings and has reviewed online submissions as part of a broad consultation process. The panel will provide findings to the Minister in February.
