Premier Moe Gets Flu Shot, Encourages Residents To Get Theirs As Well

Premier Scott Moe joined Health Minister Jim Reiter at the Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy on Grant Road today in Regina to get the flu shot and encourage residents to get one as well.

“Flu shots are free in Saskatchewan and easy to access,” Health Minister Jim Reiter said.  “I encourage our residents, especially those at risk of complications from influenza, to get their flu shot without delay to protect themselves, their families and others around them.”

Flu shots are recommended for those at higher risk, including seniors, people with underlying chronic health conditions, children under five, and pregnant women.

Saskatchewan residents can get their free flu shot at public health clinics, local pharmacies, and some physician and Nurse Practitioner offices.

“More than 340 pharmacies across the province will offer free flu vaccinations this season,” Pharmacy Association of Saskatchewan CEO Dawn Martin said.  “Pharmacists are pleased to support the provincial influenza immunization program and help keep our residents healthy.”

Pharmacists can administer the free flu shot:

  • to residents five years and older;
  • during home visits; and
  • in some congregate living settings.
Children under five and non-Saskatchewan residents can be vaccinated at a public health clinic.

For a list of pharmacies that provide the free flu shot, check the Pharmacy Association of Saskatchewan website or ask your local pharmacy if they offer it.
