Legislative Cafeteria Under New Management

Released on November 29, 2018

The Conexus Arts Centre will assume operation and management of the Dome Cafeteria and catering services in the Saskatchewan Legislative building in the new year.

The agreement with the Conexus Arts Centre was made following an open Request for Proposal process and includes an offer for the existing in-scope cafeteria staff to retain their positions.  The Conexus Arts Centre proposal was accepted in part for its local management, extensive catering experience and existing experienced resources.

“I want to thank employees of the Dome cafeteria for their past service and professional approach while a new agreement was being negotiated,” Central Services Minister Ken Cheveldayoff said.  “I look forward to the continuing quality food service the Dome cafeteria has always provided to employees and guests visiting the Legislative building,”

The province will no longer be required to subsidize the cafeteria, which lost $72,000 over the last two years.  The Conexus Arts Centre will be responsible for all costs related to operations of the cafeteria including food and employee salaries.

As the building operator, the Ministry of Central Services will continue to maintain the space the Dome cafeteria occupies.
