Saskatchewan’s manufacturing sector was busy in July, with sales up 13.5 per cent over last July (seasonally adjusted), the highest percentage increase among the provinces, to $1.27 billion. On a national basis, sales were up only 3.4 per cent.
“A double digit increase in the year-over-year comparison shows that our province’s manufacturing sector is strong and resilient,” Economy Minister Steven Bonk said. “The Made-in-Saskatchewan label is known as a stamp of the highest quality all over the world, and we look forward to assisting our manufacturers grow their exports in the years to come.”
Sales were up in a number of areas including chemical manufacturing and wood products.
Between July 2017 and June 2017, manufacturing sales were up 1.2 per cent (seasonally adjusted), third highest when compared with other provinces and well ahead of the 2.6 per cent decline posted nationally.
