The Province of Saskatchewan is pleased to recognize May 21 to 27, as Public Works Week in Saskatchewan.From the construction of streets and bridges to the delivery of clean water and sanitation services, public works provide a foundation that enables our communities to thrive.
“I am pleased to recognize the work of our public works professionals who provide, maintain and improve infrastructure and services that we all rely on,” Central Services Minister Christine Tell said. “The contribution of these professionals is vital to ensuring the continued high quality of life enjoyed by Saskatchewan people.”
The Saskatchewan Chapter of the Canadian Public Works Association (CPWA) organizes Public Works Week, highlighting the importance of public works to our daily lives, and the extensive reach of public works throughout society. This is the 57th year of celebration, honouring the professionals who plan, build, manage and operate our public infrastructure.
The vital role public works plays in linking us together is recognized through this year’s Public Works Week theme, “Public Works Connects Us.” No matter where you go in Saskatchewan, you will find public works actively connecting communities not only within the province, but to the rest of the world.
“Our theme, Public Works Connects Us, refers to the many ways we connect with each other and nature every day,” Saskatchewan Public Works Association President Dale Petrun said. “Seemingly simple things like your commute, having a morning cup of coffee or taking a walk in the park, would not be possible without public works professionals. It is great to take this opportunity to recognize the hard work and dedicated service that public works professionals provide to communities of all sizes in Saskatchewan.”
Recognized annually, Public Works Week is an opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of public works professionals, promote careers in public works, and highlight the importance of public works and the people behind them to the province and the country.
