Released on December 18, 2017

Susan Amrud, Q.C., has been appointed as the Chairperson of the Labour Relations Board.  Her appointment takes effect on March 7, 2018.

Current Chairperson, Kenneth Love’s appointment ends on March 6, 2018.  Love has served as Chairperson of the Labour Relations Board since March 6, 2008.

“There are few people who are as well-versed in Saskatchewan labour legislation as Ms. Amrud,” Labour Relations and Workplace Safety Minister Don Morgan said.  “Her years of legal experience will prove a valuable asset to the people of Saskatchewan as she takes on this new role with the Labour Relations Board.”

Chairperson Love added his congratulations to Amrud upon her appointment.

“Ms. Amrud brings years of experience to her new role,” Love said.  “I am very pleased that she has agreed to succeed me as chairperson.”

Amrud practiced law with the Ministry of Justice for 34 years, most recently as Associate Deputy Minister.  Throughout her career, she specialized in the development of legislation.  She served as legal counsel to the Legislation and Review Committee for more than 25 years.  For the last 15 years, Amrud led a team of lawyers who provided legal advice to government on constitutional, human rights, trade and Aboriginal issues as well as the development, drafting and publication of legislation.

The Labour Relations Board is a quasi-judicial tribunal that administers appeals under The Saskatchewan Employment Act.

As Chair of the Labour Relations Board, Amrud will oversee board activities and conduct appeal hearings.
