Commissioner for Oaths and Notary Public Application and Renewal Now Available Online

Released on September 27, 2016

A new online application and renewal process to appoint Commissioners for Oaths and Notaries Public is now available in Saskatchewan.

The new process includes online payment and the ability for citizens to check the status of an application and print their own certificates.  There is also an educational component to teach new applicants the duties of their pending role and to serve as a refresher for those already appointed.

“Commissioners for Oaths and Notaries Public provide important services to Saskatchewan citizens,” Justice Minister and Attorney General Gordon Wyant said.  “Modernizing the application and renewal system provides a more convenient process for those who wish to maintain their appointment or become a Commissioner for Oaths or Notary Public for the first time.”

The Ministry of Justice partnered with Information Services Corporation (ISC) in the development of the new system.  This application is the first of many online solutions to be developed by ISC to support government continuously improving service delivery.  Commissioners for Oaths commission documents related to matters such as mortgages, contracts, sales and affidavits.  Notaries Public may perform duties such as sign passport documents, certify copies of birth certificates, and certify documents regarding homesteads.
