City of North Battleford Receives $770,000 for Targeted Policing Initiatives

Released on November 16, 2016

The Government of Saskatchewan is taking action to help ensure community safety for North Battleford communities and families through the Municipal Police Grants.  This contribution of $770,000 will continue to fund seven RCMP positions in North Battleford.

“Community safety is a priority for the Government of Saskatchewan,” The Battlefords MLA Herb Cox said on behalf of Justice Minister and Attorney General Gordon Wyant.  “These seven RCMP officers help ensure families and communities in North Battleford are safe.”

The Municipal Police Grant allows the RCMP to focus on priority areas for the City of North Battleford.  The funding enables officers to have a more visible role in the community and allows for targeted enforcement to address serious and organized crime in the city.

This funding is part of $14.2 million provided to municipalities for 125 targeted police officer positions across the province.

More than $109 million has been invested in community safety province-wide through Municipal Police Grants since 2008-09.  The City of North Battleford has received more than $5 million since 2008-09.
