Win-Win: Swift Current P3 Creates Jobs and State-of-the-Art Facility

Released on September 8, 2015

Now one year into construction, the new Swift Current Long-Term Care Centre remains on-time and on-budget for an April 2016 completion.  In addition to saving taxpayers $16 million on the 225 bed facility, the public-private partnership (P3) has now involved two dozen local companies in its construction.

“The economic news today confirms a P3 was the right choice,” Premier Brad Wall and Swift Current MLA said.  “A P3 got shovels in the ground sooner creating opportunities for local companies in light of turbulent oil prices.”

“It is great to see so many local businesses involved in this project,” Swift Current and District Chamber of Commerce Chairperson Michel Deguire said.  “While P3s are new to this province, our first experience is going well.  We are proving that Saskatchewan companies can compete with the best the world has to offer.”

The P3 project is creating 500 jobs in the province.  The number of Saskatchewan businesses that have directly benefitted from the project is growing, with 24 businesses around the province supplying products and services:
