SaskGaming President and CEO Retiring

Released on March 27, 2015

After 20 years with Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation and eight years as the organization’s President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Twyla Meredith is officially retiring her post effective March 31, 2015.

Meredith started at SaskGaming in 1995 as the Senior Vice-President of Finance and Administration.  She was appointed President and CEO in 2008, becoming the first and only female President and CEO of the corporation.

Throughout her tenure, Meredith made significant contributions to the short-term and long-term success of SaskGaming.  Under her leadership, the Casino Regina Show Lounge, pedway and parking garage project became a reality.  So too did the opening of Casino Moose Jaw in 2002.  Meredith also provided invaluable vision and consideration as she navigated a challenging restructure of the corporation in October 2013.

“After 33 years in the provincial government, including the last 20 with SaskGaming, it is time to start the next chapter of my life,” Meredith said.  “I am thankful that I was given the opportunity to work in a Crown corporation that is involved in such an exciting and dynamic industry.  We built the casinos from scratch and have watched them grow into profitable businesses that give back to our communities and the province as a whole.  I have had a very satisfying and rewarding career.  It was an honour to serve the people of Saskatchewan.”

Meredith is a Fellow Chartered Professional Accountant and a graduate of the University of Regina.  Prior to joining SaskGaming, she held positions at the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Finance and Saskatchewan Government Insurance.  She is also a major champion of the community, lending her time and expertise to numerous local, provincial and national boards.

“Thanks to the leadership and vision of Twyla Meredith, SaskGaming has remained a profitable business venture in a maturing gaming market,” Minister responsible for SaskGaming Nancy Heppner said.  “On behalf of the Government of Saskatchewan, I want to extend my best wishes to Twyla and thank her for her many years of service to the province.”

“Twyla Meredith’s business acumen, sound strategy and unwavering commitment to SaskGaming has left an important and lasting mark on this corporation,” SaskGaming Board Chair Wes Becker said.  “The SaskGaming Board of Directors would like to thank Twyla for two decades of leadership and commitment to the corporation, and wish her well as she begins this new journey.”

Blaine Pilatzke, Executive Director of Human Resources at SaskGaming, has been appointed the interim President and CEO of the corporation.  The SaskGaming Board of Directors is in the process of searching for a new President and CEO and will fill the position on a permanent basis in the coming months.
