Premier Calls Lloydminster By-Election for November 13

Released on October 16, 2014

Premier Brad Wall has set the date for the Lloydminster by-election.  It will be held on Thursday, November 13.

Wall said he wanted to ensure that residents of the Lloydminster constituency had a representative in the Legislature before the end of the upcoming fall sitting.

“Saskatchewan is strong and our government is working hard to make sure it stays strong,” Wall said.  “Just last week, we learned that Saskatchewan now has the strongest rate of job creation and lowest unemployment in the country, thanks to our strong economy.

“You can certainly see the change in our province in a place like Lloydminster.  It used to be that almost all the growth was on the Alberta side.  In the last few years, the Saskatchewan side of Lloydminster has actually been growing faster than the Alberta side.

“We want to keep that momentum going and never go back to the way it was before.”

Wall said he expects all parties to run a vigourous campaign.
