Annual Report to Show Red Tape Reduction Progress

Released on April 10, 2014

The Government of Saskatchewan will publish an annual report in July 2014 highlighting red tape reduction efforts by government ministries and agencies.  This follows the approval of the Regulatory Modernization and Accountability Regulations by Cabinet, and will include details about which regulations have been updated over the previous year.  The report will be tabled in the legislature by the Minister of the Economy and posted to www.saskatchewan.ca.

“We are committed to cutting red tape by creating and maintaining effective, relevant and efficient regulations,” Economy Minister Bill Boyd said.  “The publication of this report will allow the public to be aware of the regulatory and policy changes we are making that may impact Saskatchewan people and businesses.”

Regulatory modernization is one of the goals outlined in the Saskatchewan Plan for Growth: Vision 2020 and Beyond, which aims to reduce the regulatory burden on Saskatchewan people and businesses to make the province more attractive to investors.  Each year, government ministries and agencies review regulations to reduce overlap and remove obsolete or outdated regulations.

In 2013, more than 130 government regulations were updated and approved.
