Zachery J. Chevrier, a supervisor of a Lampman business, pleaded guilty to one count under The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 1996 and was fined $980 in Regina Provincial Court on October 28, 2013.
Mr. Chevrier pleaded guilty to:
- contravening section 17(2) of the regulations (failure to ensure that the workers under his direction comply with The Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 and its regulations) and fined $700 with a $280 surcharge.
In the same case, Mason M. Tourand, a worker employed by a Lampman business, pleaded guilty to one charge under The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 1996 and was fined $980 in Regina Provincial Court on October 28, 2013.
Mr. Tourand pleaded guilty to:
- contravening section 13(2) of the regulations (failure to follow safe work practices required by The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations , 1996) and fined $700 with a $280 surcharge.
The charges stemmed from an incident on January 10, 2012 where an Occupational Health and Safety Officer observed workers at a worksite near Pilot Butte operating a trenching machine and working in an unsafe trench.
Occupational Health and Safety conducts approximately 4,000 worksite inspections annually to ensure standards are known, understood and enforced. In the last five years, Occupational Health and Safety has cited nearly 6,400 contraventions for violations in the construction sector.
