TWO EMPLOYEES OF REGINA BUSINESS FINED FOR SAFETY VIOLATIONS

Jack Morriseau, a supervisor of Penny Lynn Holdings Ltd. pleaded guilty to one count under The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 1996 for failure to ensure that workers under his direction comply with The Occupational Health and Safety Act, 1993 and its associated regulations.  Morriseau was fined $400 in Regina Provincial Court on October 7, 2013.

The conviction relates to an incident which occurred on April 28, 2011.  An Occupational Health Officer observed three workers working on a roof of a building in violation of occupational health and safety legislation.

In the same incident, Gary Morriseau, an employee of Penny Lynn Holdings Ltd. of Regina has pleaded guilty to one count under The Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 1996 for failure to use a fall protection system at a work area where he could have fallen three metres or more.  Morriseau was fined $360 in Regina Provincial Court on September 30, 2013.

OHS conducts approximately 4,000 worksite inspections annually to ensure standards are known, understood and enforced. In the last five years, OHS has cited nearly 6,400 contraventions in the construction sector.
