HIGHWAY 15 GETTING $7.7 MILLION IMPROVEMENT FOR A SMOOTHER RIDE

Released on September 17, 2012

A $7.7 million improvement on Highway 15 between Rosetown and Outlook will result in a better ride for motorists. Paving has begun on the 16.5 kilometre (km) project, which will return the highway to near-new condition and give motorists a smoother, safer ride.

"Our province is growing and we're aggressively making improvements in preparation for more economic activity," Government Relations Minister and Rosetown-Elrose MLA Jim Reiter said on behalf of Highways and Infrastructure Minister Don McMorris. "Highway 15 is becoming increasingly important for the movement of goods as it is a corridor that provides truckers with a high haul route spanning most of the province."

These upgrades will serve more than 1,000 vehicles and 210 large trucks that travel Highway 15 between Highway 4 and Outlook each day.

This highway project is also good news for Milden as crews will improve the community access road as they move through area.

"The community of Milden is also benefitting from an improved access road, which is being done under the Community Tourism Access Road program," Reiter said.

The Highway 15 project is part of this year's $581.5 million Highways and Infrastructure budget. This is the first year of a four-year commitment to invest $2.2 billion into the provincial transportation system.

Motorists are reminded to slow to 60 km/hr when passing workers and equipment in the Orange Zone.
