Moose Jaw Refinery ULC, operating as Moose Jaw Refinery Partnership, has pleaded guilty to one count under The Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Act related to a failure to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of a worker, resulting in injury. The company was fined $11,900 in Moose Jaw Provincial Court.
The conviction resulted from an incident that occurred on September 10, 2009. A worker was injured while clearing a plugged pipe connected to a tank filled with hot asphalt. Four other charges against Moose Jaw Refinery Partnership were stayed.
Gibson Energy Ltd. was charged with five counts under the OHS Act in connection with the same incident. All five counts against Gibson Energy Ltd. were stayed in Moose Jaw Provincial Court.
