Watch for Crews in the Orange Zone
Rider Priders driving in for the Saskatchewan Roughriders' regular season home opener this weekend will want to take note of more than 50 highway construction projects in the province in order to ensure they arrive safely and in time for kickoff.
"We're working hard to address the challenges created by a growing province," Highways and Infrastructure Minister Don McMorris said. "There are dozens of highway construction projects underway in Saskatchewan including the Highway 11 twinning south of Prince Albert and the West Regina bypass project. These are examples of how we're helping to support a growing economy and improve the quality of life in Saskatchewan."
There is a variety of new work scheduled to begin this week including surfacing on Highway 6 west of Ferry Glen, bridge deck repairs over the Qu'Appelle River on Highway 10, patching on Highway 11 between Rosthern and Duck Lake, surfacing and sealing on Highway 42 from Keeler to Eyebrow, grading and paving on Highway 48 between Kipling and Kennedy and patching on Highway 45 near Outlook.
In addition, traffic will be detoured on Highway 39 near Roche Percee on Thursday, July 5 to allow CP Rail to make some major repairs to the crossing in the valley. Truckers may wish to seek an alternate route such as Highway 6.
The weekly construction update is posted to the Highway Hotline Facebook page at www.facebook.com/SaskatchewanHighwayHotline and Tweeted @SKGovHwyHotline. Pictures of various construction projects can be found in a photo gallery on the ministry's website at www.highways.gov.sk.ca/constructionseason2012.
