THE WEEKLY PROVINCIAL HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Drivers are reminded to stay alert and watch for potential construction in various stages, as work continues this fall on Saskatchewan's highway system.

"Have a great Thanksgiving weekend, but please be sure to slow to 60 km/h when passing highway workers and equipment and be cautious and alert when approaching any highway activity," Highways and Infrastructure Minister Jim Reiter said.

New construction activity highlighted for this update period includes such activities expected to be underway as work on Highway 1 (Ring Road) in Regina, Highway 1 west of Regina starting near the access to Grand Coulee, the junction of Highways 1 and 48 at White City, Highway 29 southwest of the Battlefords, along with Highway 47 north of Grenfell. More details about the projects outlined above, along with other potential impacts to motorists and information about other work in various stages of construction throughout the province can be found in the attached backgrounder.

This is the last provincial highway construction update for 2011. Information about emergency road closures due to severe weather, status of ferries and barges, along with other maintenance activities are also available by contacting the Highway Hotline.
