WEEKLY PROVINCIAL HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION UPDATE

Released on November 18, 2010

Motorists are advised to be aware of upcoming and ongoing provincial highway construction projects while travelling throughout Saskatchewan.

"Although winter weather is here, some new construction is underway, since bridge, culvert and grading work can still occur as the weather gets colder," Highways and Infrastructure Minister Jim Reiter said. "Remember, obey all flag persons, slow to 60 km/hr when passing highway workers and equipment in the Orange Zone and be cautious and alert when approaching any road activity."

New activity for this update period includes a bridge replacement on Highway 56 over Larogues Creek just east of Lebret, two culvert installations on Highway 56 about 10 km northwest of the Qu'Appelle River Bridge near Katepwa Point Provincial Park, along with a culvert installation on Highway 334 about 17 km east of Avonlea. For more details and a list of other long-term projects in various stages, please see the attached backgrounder.

This is the last provincial highway construction update for 2010. Media advisories about highway activities will be issued as required. Information for the media and the public about emergency road closures due to severe weather, status of ferries and barges, along with other maintenance activities are also available by contacting the Highway Hotline.
