Highways and Infrastructure Minister Wayne Elhard reminds motorists to be aware of new and ongoing projects when travelling this summer, as work continues and commences on 1,580 kilometres (km) of highways this construction season.
"This weekly snapshot is to help motorists plan the safest and most efficient routes before travelling and to keep Orange Zone safety in mind," Elhard said. "Remember, drivers who exceed 60 km/h when passing a highway worker face a base fine of $140. Please, be alert, be prepared to stop as directed and do your part to protect lives."
New work getting underway this week includes about 11 km of construction on Highway 3 near Crooked River, construction of a truck climbing lane on Highway 7 near Flaxcombe, 28 km of microsurfacing on Highway 19 south of Central Butte, along with 17 km of construction on Highway 55 near Red Earth.
