Highways and Infrastructure Minister Jim Reiter reminds motorists to drive safely as we head into the long weekend and to be alert for potential ongoing road construction.
"If you're travelling by road to visit family, friends or to reach a summer getaway, please keep the Orange Zone in mind," Reiter said. "Remember, drivers who exceed 60 km/h when passing highway workers and equipment face a base fine of $140."
Work that has recently started or is expected to be underway later this week includes construction on Highway 32 west of Swift Current, Highway 106 north of Smeaton, Highway 303 east of Lloydminster and ongoing twinning of Highway 11 between Prince Albert and Saskatoon. For more details and a list of other ongoing projects, please see the attached backgrounder.
Construction work is subject to weather conditions and contractor progress. Motorists can get other important travel information on the Summer Road Conditions and Road Conditions Map sections of the Highway Hotline online at www.highways.gov.sk.ca/road-conditions/.
