Honourable Kevin Doherty


Minister of Finance

MLA for Regina Northeast

Kevin was first elected to the Saskatchewan Legislature in November 2011, representing the constituency of Regina Northeast. He was appointed Minister of Finance in May of 2015.

Kevin's previous appointments include: Minister of Advanced Education and Minister responsible for SaskTel; and Minister of Parks, Culture and Sport and Minister responsible for the Provincial Capital Commission.

Prior to his career in politics, Kevin worked as a Division Director for Investors Group, the Director of Government Relations for Bayer Healthcare, as well as the Manager of Provincial Relations for Glaxo Wellcome Inc. and Vice President of Corporate Relations at SaskPower.

Over the years Kevin has been very involved in the community – he is a former President of the University of Saskatchewan Students' Union; member of the University Of Saskatchewan Board of Governors; vice chair of the Hospitals of Regina Foundation; member of the Regina Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors; and former President of the Saskatchewan Special Olympics.

Kevin grew up on the family farm near Rose Valley, has a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Saskatchewan, and formerly held a certified financial planner designation.

In his free time, Kevin enjoys spending time at the cabin in northern Saskatchewan, traveling, golfing, reading, motorcycling, and snowmobiling.
