Apply for the Professional Development Grant for Licensed Child Care

The Professional Development Grant is available to licensed child care facilities.

1. Benefits

The Professional Development Grant covers a number of expenses that come with attending professional development events and sessions including:

  • Event and registration fees
  • Accomodation costs
  • Travel costs
  • Meal allowance
  • Staffing expenses, including additional wages or hiring replacement staff

The maximum amount that can be claimed under the Professional Development Grant is $300 per person, per event, plus mileage.

2. Eligibility

Grants are issued to licensed child care facilities whose employees have attended events or online sessions in Saskatchewan or other provinces that focus on the following topics:
  • Programming
  • Health and Safety
  • Administration or Human Resource Management
  • Governance or Board Training
  • Multiple Topic Conferences with an emphasis on early childhood education

3. How To Apply

Employers can complete the Application for Reimbursement of Professional Development Expenses Form for all staff who attended an event.

Those who attended the event must provide:

  1. Required receipts
  2. Proof of registration
  3. A copy of the Certificate of Participation (if available) 

More than one application form can be submitted, but the total of all applications cannot exceed your facility's maximum Professional Development Grant. 

Applications must be submitted within two months following each event attended.

5. Further Information

The Reimbursement of Professional Development Travel Expenses Form needs to be attached for travel, accommodation or meal costs.

The final deadline for remaining applications is March 15, 2017.
