David et son frère sont propriétaires d’une ferme qu’ils exploitent ensemble. En plus de sa vie professionnelle bien remplie, il a fait beaucoup de bénévolat dans sa collectivité. Il a siégé au Conseil de la municipalité rurale à partir de 1993 et, en 1999, il a été élu à l’Association des municipalités rurales de la Saskatchewan (SARM) en tant que directeur pour la division 2, où il a siégé comme président jusqu’à ce qu’il remporte l’investiture du Parti saskatchewanais.

Il est actuellement membre bénévole du conseil d’administration de la Fondation des maladies du cœur et de l’AVC de la Saskatchewan et se réjouit de pouvoir y représenter la population de Wood River.

Monsieur Marit est membre du Comité permanent des affaires intergouvernementales et de la justice.

Sa femme et lui ont un fils et une fille, et deux petites-filles.
